She cho-cho-chose me

We're laying pretty low this Valentine's Day. Our plans include working, hitting the hopefully vacant gym, picking up a Round Table pizza, and staying in. Did we get one another any gifts? Not in the traditional sense although Sarah just pointed out to me in an IM conversation that I did indeed get her something:

Kevin: You see your little comments thing on your site now?

Sarah: yes! Muy awesome! Thanks, sweetie! Is that my valentine's gift?

Kevin: Uh -- YES! Exactly. :)

...

Sarah: I choo-choo-choose you!

What a girl! We know we love one another and express as such all year 'round in different ways. I'm pretty sure this holiday causes plenty of ups and downs to which we simply don't subscribe. We'll enjoy this day just like we might any other and I'm proud every day I get to be with my best friend/wife.

Update (2006-02-15 @ 6:54am)
We had a really nice night. We skipped the gym due to a raging headache on Sarah's part but I picked up the pizza. We also avoided the wine/pizza combo in favor of a couple small drinks later to wind the evening down. She made what we called "Valentine's Grease" which was 2oz Root Beer, 1oz Capt. Jack's, and 0.5oz Aftershock. It was actually a pretty smooth drink -- Sarah's missing her calling, I tell ya. Thanks for the relaxing night, sweetie. I'm up for it anytime, Valentine's day or not.

I have to say that I really admire the way you and Sarah keep it real around holidays. Well done.

Thanks man. My thought is there's plenty of pressure and stressers in life without holiday's adding to them. Besides, taking a lax approach to any holiday only makes the day that much more special when it's chosen to be truly celebrated.
