Successful office open house

I got off to an early start today at work since we had lots to do. The final prep for our open house had to come together this morning so that by 2pm we could relax and have a good time. After hanging the remaining framed photos on the wall a delivery of rented tables, flatware, and silverware arrived. Co-worker Holly and I rolled the tables and buddy bars into place and she set up a spread of the silverware on the banquet tables. I was actually pretty impressed with the plates since they weren't transparent but instead milky inside but still allowed light to pass through. Their bumpy surface was covered in a sheen like that of opal. Very cool -- might have to find out where they got those. Anyway, we cleaned around the office, set up chairs, dusted and tidied our desktops. Boss Brian spent some time putting together some slideshows of projects to play on the computers for clients to see. He cranked them out in no time before he headed to the airport to pick up one of the graphic designers we frequently used for projects. Few of us had ever met him so it was great to do so and hang out with him during the party.

Once the food arrived Holly placed it all on serving plates and we welcomed our first clients/guests right about 2pm. There was a steady stream of attendance all afternoon. Everyone seemed really comfortable and happy to mingle with one another and the office staff. We were also fortunate to have an Airstream trailer in the parking lot as a somewhat interactive display of one of our client's work. Folks seemed to enjoy peeking inside of it since they're certainly not something you see everyday. The beer and wine were expertly served by our rent-a-bartender who also made sure to clear plates and glasses of our guests. Sarah, Angela and Steve (of the Ferguson's) came by as did my former PLU co-worker Darren. It was great to welcome people I personally know to see our newly decorated and warmer workplace. For them it only helps them form a more complete picture of who I am and what I do. Sarah hung around until a remaining guest and most of the staff decided to call it quits.

There's still tons of food and drink leftover so all us staff will surely be eating snack after snack this entire upcoming week. I guess that means more trips to the gym for me! Here's to SiteCrafting -- may we continue to crank out fine web applications and expand our capabilities to better serve our clients and our own success!
