Spring trek (day 4)

Gavin and Holly accompanied me on my last day of field spring work. We were on the lookout for a couple in the Graham area and possibily out near Clay City (more like Clay Pidgeon City). The first was a mixed success. Although we pretty much found the wetlands which served as the source for a nearby spring, we didn't find the burbling spring itself. I'm sure it was there, however, judging by the flow of the stream itself. The second spring was on a hillside on private land which was less than easy to reach. We didn't make it onto the land but I may head back once I've got some other things wrapped up with my project. No matter where I went or to whom I talked I was either startled by rusted-out frames of overturned cars or hurriedly approached by some less-than-vicious dogs. Ah, country life.

The end of our day consisted of a nice drive from Graham down around Ohop Lake, through Enumclaw, and back onto Hwy. 7 where we headed north back to Parkland. With some decent spring info in-hand, it's now time to hit the word processing software and start writing.
