A little Sunday Hustle and Flow

I can't say that I spent today neither hustling nor flowing anything. I did mow the lawn while enjoying some vibes on my Zen. Got up again late today (like yesterday) but managed to have something of a morning before the entire day passed me by. I spent some time paying attention to our front lawn by mowing then fertilizing. Since the push reel is a bit of a workout I don't normally make enough passes over the grass to cut it really evenly. Unlike those mechanized contraptions that have a whirring blade of fury doing all the work, my push reel doesn't have the suction that probably helps the blades stand up straight before being whacked. This means that multiple passes are necessary to simulate the job done from one of those new-fangled mowers.

The front lawn came out well because of it and, aside from chopping up some K-9 droppings, everything went smoothly. A little fertilzer and I was good to go. I took a quick jaunt over to the 'Depot to grab a few new furnace filters to help clear out our indoor air a bit especially with allergy season bearing down on us. I picked up some filters that seem much denser than the fibery ones left to us when we moved in. We'll see how they do. My though was that, since lodge at the intake to our heating, these things should come in optional scents! Yeah, that's right, try and escape the potpurri -- you can't, can you?!

Thanks to our sushi partners from last night Sarah and I watched a borrowed copy of Hustle and Flow, recent Oscar winner for best original song and got nomination props for lead actor. Somewhat skeptical at first we really enjoyed it. The story was solid and the heart was in the right place. There's plenty of adversity to be had out there and it's always nice to see a somewhat non-Disney-ified take on it all. There are more colors in this world than just Snow White and everyone has a story to tell. I definitely recommend it to anyone into music since the plot revolves around a pretty pathetic pimp that seeks out his dream of being a rapper. Sound pretty six o'clock urban news? Think again. There's plenty of good stuff going on that'll darn near make you tear up. Rent it and enjoy it.

Only three more days 'til another snowboard trip! Wednesday this week is hooky day. Cheers!
