Tacoma Hosting World Affairs Summit Apr. 19-21
Just got an email in about a local summit focusing on how global issues effect local life. From the press release:
Tacoma is hosting the first annual World Affairs Summit; compelling conversations with local and regional presenters on three themes: peace and social justice, the environment and education. All designed to broaden perspectives about how the global community impacts our own. The idea of the Summit comes from Boulder, Colorado where for over 50 years the community has held the Conference on World Affairs.
The goals of the World Affairs Summit are vast and diverse. First, to feed our heads. The Summit overflows with ideas, questions, and challenges which will expand our minds and spirits. Secondly, to help the South Sound take its place in world affairs. We want people on the West Coast, around the Pacific and all over the world to think of this as a breeding ground for ideas, energy and innovation. Third, to add to the excitement of downtown Tacoma by bringing people to our streets, our shops, our restaurants - and to showcase our world class schools and cultural institutions. And finally, to connect an implicit community, to weave another strand in the network of people who share ideas and a passion for ideas.
The World Affairs Summit will have presentations and conversations at many venues in downtown Tacoma, in the Museum District and along the Link Light Rail. The event is free of charge and attendees participate on a first come first served bases.
Sounds like some great discussions could come of this.

Thanks for the link Paul -- my silly Mac at work is to blame for my formerly bad link. Forgot that stinky ".pdf" at the end of the filename.
We'll have guests that weekend but hopefully I'll get to some of this. Sounds fascinating.
