Tickled by the Tempest
I know "tickled" is a cheesy word but I was. Co-owner of the Tempest Lounge Michelle has the demeanor of a server in a Southern diner but surrounded by a swank spot. Anyone who refers to me as sweetheart straight off gets my vote. ;) Seriously though, I dropped by the Hilltop Upper Tacoma establishment for the first time Friday night after work. Michael from work and In-Tacoma fame urged me to join him so we got a couple drinks and appetizers first off. The place is in an unassuming single-story building but inside has a smooth feel. Good colors, some nice touches of glass and vintage photos/postcards under the table tops make for a stylish setting. If that would be at all intimidating to nerdy bald guys like me it's easily overcome by the staff. Both the ladies that served us up food and drink were awesome.
We enjoyed time sitting in the back in their little patio area. Shade from the evening sun and a slight breeze made this to spot to be. Michael enjoyed his fresh squeezed screwdriver and I had nothing but good things to say about the Fish Tale Organic Amber in my hand. My appetizer of a hummus plate was tasty but the BLT I shared with Michael was awesome -- especially that soft panini bread.
So I'll definitely make it back and will keep an eye out for any music and/or art happening there.

Cool. Thanks.
Nice to see some more momentum come to Hilltop. They have one of the best layouts of any mixed use centers in Tacoma and are starting to get some more investment. Here's a place to get in with a local small business.
I have linked to the map.
