It takes two to party

Isn't that how the saying goes or something? Well, at any rate today was a very fulfilling day. It began with a late rising Kevin. I got up at about 10am but didn't manage to bathe until somewhere around 11:30am. Oops. I decided that today would encompass my maiden voyage on VSU's shuttle bus "system". During the week it runs to parts of campus down the street a bit. Saturday's bus schedule is trimmed down from that and only includes a few runs to the local mall every couple of hours. So, with a couple of CDs I had in mind to purchase, I set out at 1pm for Valdosta's mall. I went in to a couple CDs stores and discovered that nothing good was priced under $17.99. Too bad too... So I went over to Target and picked up Harry Connick Jr.'s Come By Me and the Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me soundtrack at around $14 each. Both great purchases by the way. I wandered over to Books-A-Million and sat myself down with an icy mocha and a great book of pictures taken of Earth by astronauts.

I saw someone I knew in Books-A-Million which says one of two things about Valdosta, Georgia: 1) It's a small place and there's not much to do or 2) I know so many people that I'm bound to run into somebody. The first is definately the case. Oh, well. It's always nice to bump into someone you know.

After catching the bus home, I hung around here a bit until Dr. Leake came to pick me up to have a BBQ at her house. Although we invited a couple other students that I work with, no one got the message so it was just Dr. Leake, her cats, and I. We had a nice time and she tested me out with some hot sauce she bought. Although it was tasty, the stuff was kinda' a cross between Tobasco and A1 Steak Sauce. It was hot yet sweet. You figure it out. Anyway, it was a great time and when she drove me back here we thought of observing tonight if the other guys happened to be up in the dome. We checked and neither of the Jasons were up there. When we got back to street level, however, Jason Looper and his girlfriend, Amanda, were around looking for me. We all chatted a bit until Jason insisted that I show Amanda and Dr. Leake some of my computer animations.

So now I'm working on this page, listening to my new CD purchases and typing to my lovely significant other Sarah who worked her butt off today for 7 hours. And what does she get? A stomach flu and some seriously soar feet from standing in toe-cramping shoes. Distance is ususally a problem in relationships. It can really tear two people apart as they grow separately from one another. Sarah and I have got it good. ICQ and other similar internet-based communications devices keep us in close contact. But nothing can help close the gap between two people when one is under the weather. I feel helpless right now that I can't comfort her while she doesn't feel well and there's no program or little emoticon that can truly feel like I'm right there holding her. All I can do is try and comfort her via the typed word. Luckily for us, that's one of the only things distance has temporarily taken from our relationship. And that's not half bad.

So that, my friends, was today. You thrilled? You pumped? Well, I'm sorry to disappoint but I have no pictures of tonight's twilight from Valdosta. But, I will leave you with one special item. A picture of tonight's hamburgers pre-cooked!
