Taped-up Christmas
Wrapping gifts feels good. No matter what I conceal with the shiny paper it's like pulling myself back into elementary school 'cause I get to play with paper, scissors, and tape. Of course it also reminds me how bad I was at creating anything with straight edges. I lack that gene along with that folding one that all the girls back then seemed to have in extra strength.
You know what really tells me it's nearly Christmas time? It's not the chilly weather or the barrage of holiday ads hurled at me on TV. The one smell that raises my Christmas radar more than any other is that of the scotch tape used for gift wrapping. Pull a strand of that away from it's roll and you'll know it too.
In other (somewhat unrelated) news, you're reading this because I finally configured my web server for our new DSL connection to the internet. The DSL has been flowing here since last summer but it rarely got above a trickle. So we dropped our old ISP and went with one with perhaps the coolest name in the business: Blarg.net. Aside from the sweet title, the service has opened up the floodgates on our DSL and we're happily utilizing the newly efficient bandwidth.
