On the Set at the Toyota Commercial Filming
I stopped by to see the commotion surrounding the filming of a Toyota commercial out in front of the Convention Center. Everything there on Commerce and the Link light rail was closed off and crews with equipment filled the area. A minivan/SUV looking thing drove numerous passes in front of the shiny building and the streets in front were whetted to look cooler.
I'm not in the market for a new vehicle myself (nor are many folks in this economy) but it's always nice to see facets of Tacoma featured on film in one form or another.

It's hilarious how car commercials and Hollywood always wet the streets down. It's not a big deal here in the Northwest (especially in late fall) but I find it odd how L.A. in T.V. and movies always seems to have weathered a rain storm, even when it's sunny and 100% cloudless outside, and especially at night. Take, for instance, the latest Adam Sandler movie "Zohan" (I know, it's supposed to be N.Y.C.); the streets are always wet at night (a cloudless night) and its always sunny in the day. Go figure.
They probably chose Commerce St. to shoot this because the fake (cement) stone pavers that line the Link stand out well when wet. It's the same reason they shoot car commercials at Pike Place, because of the uncovered brick pavers.
