Like a trip to California
What reminds me of family road trips to California? The new-car smell of our rental for the duration of our trips. Well, I brought a little piece of that identity which is a new car home in the form of a dark blue 2002 Subaru Impreza TS Sport Wagon. And can I say what a dream it is to drive. Butter smooth shifting, steering and overall operation coupled with its nearly silent idle state makes this first and largest purchase of its kind in my life a good one. There's little to say other than I feel at ease with my new vehicle. It just seems to "fit".
New blue and I will be touring a neighborhood near you sometime soon. I plan to rely on it for whatever commute comes out of a move from this house as well as partake in a road trip or two, destination of which include the scenic North Cascades Highway, The Inland Empire that is eastern Washington, the greater Portland/Vancouver metro area, as well as a summertime jaunt to Reno, Nevada to cheer on my brother's baja racing team.
My mom said tonight, "There is nothing like that first brand new car... Kind of makes working for a living worthwhile!" Ain't that the truth. Like her first Firebird, I'm sure I'll never forget this, my first off-the-lot new car.
