Homemade Compost Bin: Part I

I had a great day at work today. After planning on a project for a couple weeks my co-worker and I are finally laying down some code for it. It's a great project with plenty of challenges but none we can't properly handle. All the planning will surely come in handy as well since we both need to work closely to get it done and done right.

In other news, I dropped Sarah off at the gym tonight so I could run a couple quick errands. My first stop was Home Depot to grab some stuff to finish off our rain barrel. I mentioned a couple weeks ago needing to finish it and set out tonight to find the right parts to do so. No luck. I'm working on creating a nice, big overflow path for the water but couldn't find what I was looking for. I'll likely have to opt for a lower-tech solution that will involve doing a bit of sealing that, I suppose, won't be too bad.

After visiting the 'Depot I headed over to a nearby shopping complex to grab some kitty litter. This shopping center is a pretty busy one with only a few vehicle entrances and exits. I'm not a big fan of parking lot traffic so usually go around the behind some of the stores to get to the PetSmart. While cruising past the loading dock of a grocery store I spied a stack of solid looking palettes (for the future compost bin) that would do nicely. I backed my car up, suspiciously looked around a couple times, then tossed a couple in the back and went along my way. My buddy Steve (of the Fergusons) offered to grab me a couple near his work so hopefully my collection will soon be complete and I can actually finish a project! Oop, did I say that out loud? Anyway, it'll be great to continue to do my part to be a responsible, environmental-conscience citizen. Stay tuned...

Well, done on getting further on your projects... But, I have an off-the-wall question:

Is it PetSmart or PetsMart? I noticed that you typed PetSmart, but why couldn't it be PetsMart? I don't know if this question has ever been answered, and I know some people that have claimed to be stumped by this one...

Ouch, my brain is working overtime this morning.

I believe it is PetSmart -- look at their logo and the word "pet" is in red and "smart" is blue. That's probably the proof we're looking for. Maybe our marketing whiz Sarah can chime in on this one?

It's PetSmart, or at least that's how it's trademarked. I'm sure the folks who thought that name up consider themselves pretty friggin brilliant.
