Mark Larson's Winged Lion Studio closed?

Sure looked that way from my view riding the Link today at lunch. Their sign wasn't hanging and a simple, sad "closed" sign was all I saw. I have an email out to Mark but (which just bounced, unfortunately) does anyone know if this is the case?

I'm sure Mark Larson, proprietor of the Winged Lion Studio, is/was fighting an uphill battle in a part of town not known for its abundant pedestrian traffic nor art focus. Yes, Freighthouse Square is nearby but, I'm sorry, that's not saying much. The Dome District is one desperately in need of a shot in the arm. My office is on the southern Pacific Avenue fringe of that area but it's clear that from here east to the Amtrak station it's a pretty large dead zone save for events at the venue for which the area gets its name. I hope improved access to Dock Street, moving the Amtrak to Freighthouse, the LeMay Museum, and a spruce up of McKinley Park will provide the drive for business owners like Mark to try again -- and hopefully this time, succeed.

Geeze now I feel bad for making fun of his artists statement in the slide-slam project-a-thon. Poor guy.

Thank you Kevin, for being concerned that my business is closed. It is not. My sign blew down in the recent wind storm and I am bending it back into shape. I'll have it up within a week.

As you astutely observed, the Dome District doesn't have much foot traffic. I knew that going in, but I have nevertheless had to get a part time job, which is why my closed sign is up so much. I will be open Fridays and Saturdays beginning March 2nd, and other times by appointment.

Mr. Anderson, I think you work is great.

Best,

Mark

Mark: Great to hear -- this is absolutely a time I'm happy to be wrong. I'll be sure to wander by sometime too. Once my project list frees up a bit, maybe I can help you with that website of yours.

Cheers!

I am a student of mark Larson great art. He has helped me so much the last few months.
Not only is he a great artist, but he is passionate about teaching you what he knows.

He also has a wonderful dog who is by his side all the time.

He really is a talent. I'm glad he didn't end up closing for good and hope his great work continues.

Thanks for commenting Beverly!
