With the ones I love

Christmas is for giving...On the Eve of a day many of us look forward to I spent time with much of the family I love. Mom decorated the dining room table after I finished wrapping the gifts I purchased, Toni's boyfriend David prepared some home-made salsa, and dad kept Katie (their black lab) in check most of the day. This afternoon the men spent time indulging in computer gaming while the women took to vocabulary-filled games of UpWords (a.k.a. 3D Scrabble). Once the sun set and our appetites grew food was set out for us to devour. Topics like movies and television shows filled that time and were a perfect precursor to the game of Millennium Trivial Pursuit we all played over dessert. Dad grew tired so we made sure to all sit down for the traditional viewing of How the Grinch Stole Christmas. This cartoon is always a delight especially knowing how many more children will be exposed to the wonderful tale due to the recent release of it's live-action counterpart.

Fifty minutes from now this time zone will pass into Christmas day and millions of people will take part and rejoice each in their own way. I know that over all the presents and food, I'm more fortunate to know that the ones I love are close to me in both spirit and physical presence. If nothing more, Christmas is a great excuse for us all to get together as a family, relax, and just enjoy each other.

Have a Merry Christmas! (I have to get to bed before Santa flies in. I've been a good boy this year, haven't I Sarah?)
