Xmas Eve

After baking and decorating sugar cookies last night Sarah and I enjoyed a smooth drive down to the Vancouver/Portland area. After some lunch with my mom in La Center, Sarah and I headed into town to put together our commonly-theme gifts for this year: gift cards! Although not necessarily as thoughtful as other forms of gift giving, we've simply had little to no time for Christmas this year what with putting together our wedding and all. Gift cards aren't all bad since you can target the gift to a favorite type of store and let the person pick out whatever they choose. Maybe I'm just overly concerned with the whole thing but it is, after all, the thought that counts.

I spent Christmas Eve over at Sarah's mom's place in Vancouver where we ate a pizza dinner and rented the recent Cole Porter sent up De-Lovely. It was a good film done in a style wherein Cole Porter retrospectively viewed his life as though it were a drama played out on a stage in front of him. It was also fun to see what modern performer was chosen to perform various Cole Porter tunes. Among them were Robbie Williams, Elvis Costello, Alanis Morissette, and Sheryl Crow, and Diana Krall. Quite a list and quite a movie for anyone fond of Porter's work.
