Today was a stunning day for my first experience of the Tokeland on the 4th of July. Aside from a breeze the processional of local fire trucks, political candidates/causes, kids riding things (unicycles, train-like things, off-road vehicles, etc), pirates, and shiny old cars was a great display of small town love for their community and country. I enjoyed lunch with Wilma and friends across the street (going to call them the Golden Girls from now on) then caught up with festivities over at the Tokeland Hotel for some rounds of water balloon toss. From there my yard beckoned then so did a grilled salmon dinner skillfully prepared and graciously offered up by my other neighbors Lynn and Doug and a second dinner of whole dungeness crab from yet another neighbor Tony and Stephanie. I wound down with a fire in my outdoor pit with a fully belly while enjoying a nearly hour long fireworks display launched at the nearby beach.
Yeah, I'm a fan. Thanks for a great first experience Tokeland and here's to many more to come!
