Arboretum Visit & Starting Plant Starts

Weekends with no plans and even fewer trips away from the house can be pretty darned relaxing, if I do say so myself. We decided, however, to venture out a bit today for a chance to catch blossoms at Seattle's Washington Park Arboretum. And catch them we did the highlight of which was the beginning of the magnolia tree blossom explosion. We saw a few towering examples of magnolia trees with beautiful pink flowers and a few other shorter trees with pink and white. The next couple weeks we'll likely head back again to catch more of the magnolias showing their splendor.

Back at home we did a little gardening in our own arboretum ;) We planted a few sunflower seeds and cosmos in the ground and started some starts from seeds in plastic cups. We started tomatoes, tomatillos, and squash in those in hopes of giving them a fighting chance while it's still cool outside.
