Today's trek on Whidbey mostly revolved around wine tasting. Connie and I headed into Langley to get sandwiches from the grocery store deli then headed out on our bikes. In a pretty short and only moderately hilly 13 miles we visited three wineries and a distillery. We first stopped at Spoiled Dog and enjoyed their beautiful grounds, good wine, and even better cheese! Next was the Whidbey Island Distillery where we learned about their still and tasted their incredible loganberry liquor. We were then back on the highway for an incredibly fun shoot down Surface Road just off Hwy 525 (highly recommend for cyclists!) and on to the beautiful views, great wines, and to eat our sandwiches at Comforts of Whidbey. Finally, just before closing, we talked with some great people and tried some great wine at Whidbey Island Winery.
Once back in Langley Connie deserved one more round after hauling 8 or so bottles in the bags on her bike(!) so we sat for a rest at Ott & Murphy Wines tasting room. Dinner tonight, after a long wait, was at the popular Village Pizzera overlooking the water. Fortunately, it was well worth the wait since we loved the pizza and even liked the beers they had on tap.
Today was great but I'd say we earned that soak in the B&B's hot tub tonight!
