Today we headed to the Long Beach peninsula. Connie and I decided on a slow start which made for a lovely day despite the 4 hours it takes to get there from Seattle. We slept in as long as our bodies (and kitties) would let us and got our start on the road about 11am. Our first stop was to see the new space my favorite Tacoma haunt The Red Hot set itself up in. We enjoyed a heck of a Two Beers imperial stout, hot dogs, and a nachos then put some fuel in the Subaru and kept on. Once in Long Beach proper I flipped a u-turn after seeing a new business just off the main junction. It was North Jetty Brewing and we happened to catch them for a pint of porter while they were open for a World Cup match. After that we made it up to my parents' then joined my Dad and Uncle Lanny for dinner at the Lost Roo before a relaxed evening near the shore.

A rare sighting of anticrepuscular rays! (e.g. the "god rays" but seen from the opposite side, going away from you)
